So this week has been no better than the last one. I’m still in pain and a visit to the dentist on Monday confirmed I had dry socket, which, if you’ve ever had it, is worse than having the damn tooth out. Ahhh.
Needless to say I’m pretty drugged up. But not too poorly to tell you about a new foundation that I’ve discovered, which is really, really good.
Currently in between foundations (I’m waiting to get to duty free to buy Lift Lumiere, Chanel) I’ve been using up an old combi foundation/powder that I had lying around. Big mistake, I don’t need any kind of powder these days as my skin is getting drier with age and the current cold weather and central heating conditions, takes every last drop of moisture out of my skin. What I need is a product that has light-reflecting qualities and gives me a dewy complexion and healthy glow. Off I went in search…
I have tried everyday brands from Boots and Superdrug before, but I really struggle to pick up decent foundations for mature skin. I don’t know if they just don’t cater for older skin, or that they don’t do it that well, but I’m never truly satisfied. So I was in M&S the Sunday before last, waiting for the tills to open (always go early on a Sunday during Christmas time as I hate the pushing and shoving) and thought I would loiter around the make-up section to see what I could find.
Lo and behold I came up trumps. Diving into The Autograph collection I found they had a number of formulas including Fluid Touch Foundation, which has SPF 20 and comes in six shades. A quick test in the mirror and I was instantly in love.
It’s a long-lasting foundation and is super-lightweight, which means you can build up the coverage to your own specification. It’s radiance-boosting, which I love and need, and at just £15 it’s a gift!
Soft to the touch, it’s quite a silky, fluid product, but I don’t find it messy to put on as it comes with a dropper type top, allowing you to use as little or as much as you want.
I love the flawless finish that it gives me and the pics I’ve included with this post are untouched.
Years ago I was part of the M&S PR team that launched the Autograph fashion range so I know it truly is a designer range. I don’t know which make-up brand is behind this label, but a friend of mine pointed out that the cult beauty brand, BECCA, from Australia, has exactly the same packaging, so it might be them. You never know.
If buying cruelty-free is something that’s important to you, you’ll be pleased to know that this foundation carries The Leaping Bunny logo, so no animal testing has taken place.
I love it. You might do too. Or, if you know of other well-priced foundations that it’s worth taking a look at please share in the comments.
Have a great weekend!
