And Now For Some Serum News
It’s no secret that I love serums, so when I was asked if I would like to trial Scienea, a new facial serum brand, featuring 100% natural ingredients, I was in.
From Amphora Aromatics – a local, Bristol-based family-run company – Scienea offers two new products in the fight to attain good skin no matter what age you are. There is Superfruit anti-ageing serum and Superberry skin-firming serum. I chose the former.
What I was told…
Out to help reduce signs of ageing, Superfruit anti-aging serum is rich in vitamins and anti-oxidants and formulated with pure essential oils and superfruits. Containing a rapid, effective, clinically proven and wrinkle smoothing natural active ingredient, Gatuline In-Tense, the serum acts on the skin’s lifting properties – giving skin a natural ‘lift’ and enhancing skin density and firmness. Scienea’s Superfruit starts working from the first application and the skin’s wrinkle surface may be reduced by 52% after the first application. Results are even clearer after 28 days of treatment, if used twice a day.
Superfood for your skin, the Scienea range is formulated with clinically proved natural ingredients to help reduce wrinkles and ‘crow’s feet’ as well as boost skin elasticity and remodel facial contours. Each paraben-free serum contains more than 20, independently tested, natural ingredients and is suitable for all skin types.
What I’m telling you…
I loved it. Really. First off, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to put oil on my face twice a day, because let’s less face it, no-one wants oily skin. However, I needn’t have worried this oil-based serum is super light, but still manages to throw in some seriously smooth moisturisation.
I have noticed that my skin is getting a little stiff! That’s no good. It will just bring on further tramlines around my face, so I need more moisturiser, more goodness getting into my skin. (Makes mental note to self to add face masks as a weekly skin regime.)
With a pump action dispenser, single droplets are released, and I need only two pumps at a time, before massaging the serum into my skin. The smell is nice (my husband commented on it), without being overpowering and I could feel the serum working immediately, giving my skin more elasticity and movement.
I would leave it a short while before putting on moisturiser and then foundation in the morning, giving it time to sink in, but sometimes I didn’t feel like I needed the moisturiser and I felt quite happy putting foundation straight on top. It gave my skin a nicely, nourished glow, which I feel I think I need now I’m aging. Of an evening I just used the serum.
In a nutshell, here’s why I love it:
- My skin felt super soft
- It felt thoroughly hydrated – no more of the stretching skin feeling from dry skin
- I wore it 99% of the time without needing the additional layer of moisturiser on top
- I reached for it morning and night from the get-go (and I have a lot of options in my toolkit!)
I’ve been using it for over a month now (I wanted to give it at least 28 days to show some results) and I’ve found it to be a really lovely addition to my skincare. Is my skin soft? Yes. Is it hydrated? Yes, absolutely. Has it reduced my crow’s feet? It’s hard to tell. I’m no expert in skincare (though an expert in facial lines, LOL!). However, I do know that dry skin will only deplete your skin’s texture further (you don’t need to be a scientist to know this), so if this helps “challenge” future damage to my skin, then that can only be a good thing as far as I’m concerned.
If you are local to Bristol, you will be pleased to know you can visit Amphora Aromatics’ shop, at 36 Cotham Hill, or click here for more info www.scienea.co.uk. Each serum retails at £30 for 20ml and from what I’ve used so far, that little bottle will go a long way.
