The first day of spring officially starts on March 20th. Pop it in your diary, thankfully it’s not that long to wait.
It’s no fun living underneath yellow lighting. I can handle being indoors at night, but these awful grey days are just bleak. I feel like I’m living on the set of Taboo, minus Tom Hardy (furthering my gloom). Please, let there be light soon.
My woollies are starting to scratch around my neck from my impatience and I’ve already mentally worked out which coats and boots “have had it” and will be binned as soon as I can peel them off. To keep me going I’ve taken to scouring for the new trends in magazines and online to see what’s coming our way this season. I can tell you that there’s a lot more frills on their way (check out M&S’s gingham frill skirt), more lace (Monsoon have introduced a black version of last season’s sell-out cream blouse) and Floral is another key trend, but whereas we have seen great bunches of flowers adorning our clothing, this time around it’s all about smaller blooms.
I found these two blouses in stores, one is super simple and encapsulates another key trend this season, the statement sleeve. The other is offering it’s take on frills. Interesting, both patterns look almost identical! Same tailor?
The second blouse is my favourite and one that I’ve kept. I can wear it with black now so that I can step away from February’s monochrome uniform, and it will look just as nice with cropped jeans when the weather changes.
I really like the print and if you’re going to go floral then you might as well go the whole hog and chuck in some feminine frills.
I have picked out tops below and chosen ideas from a broad spectrum of retailers, to show you that everyone is in on it, so your favourite stores are bound to have something that suits your choice and purse. However the trend is far-reaching and you’ll find flowers on trench coats, dresses, boots and shoes.
I think this trend might grow on you – geddit!. Who doesn’t look forward to seeing the first blooms in spring.
Make sure you’re one of them.
